First it was Else Wear for the fashion flair, then Else Ware for gifts beyond compare, now we’re Else Where, shipping everywhere!

The homonyms of Else Where…in 2000, Else Wear started as a clothing consignment store in Orange, MA. At the time, the name, Else Wear, was chosen as a play on words. The clothing in the shop came from someone else. This business was run part time until it moved to downtown Athol. As some personal changes happened for the owner, Debbie Allain-Thomas, the contents of the store was moved to a storage location. 

Debbie searched for property to house her business. The criteria was, “must be located on Rte. 2A from Westminster to Orange. If there are accommodations for me to live that will be a bonus.”  This criteria was met at 1485 Main St., in uptown Athol. (It’s current location.) Although much renovation work was needed, Else Ware was finally opened with new clothing, accessories, jewelry, New England sports team merchandise, and giftware.

Else Where offers Domestic and International Shipping

As the community grew, and a large shopping plaza was built less than two miles away, Debbie reviewed her circumstances and decided to close Else Ware in December of 2018. After much thought, Debbie decided to continue to offer photocopy and fax services and apply to be a UPS Authorized Ship Outlet. It took more than 6 months to be approved by UPS. In July of 2019, Else Where opened with photocopy, fax, and UPS shipping services.

During the Covid pandemic of 2020 United States Postal Services were added as a convenience to customers, and in 2021 FedEx was included. Since the pandemic, Else Where has associated itself with many non-profits organizations earning several community service awards. In 2024, looking to improve and add more services, Else Where has picked up DHL and IPS to now offer 5 carriers for International Shipping. The chosen logo of Else Where is a destination pin from online map services. The slogan is “It starts here, and goes else where.”
